STONEWARE
Our stoneware pottery is been wheel-thrown, trimmed, and then carved using loop tolls of various diameters. The glazes are thicker on the carved places and thinner at the edges, giving the pot color variety.
Stoneware is named for the hard-as-stone quality the clay takes on after being fired at very high temperatures. Pots made from this clay are dishwasher safe and suitable for microwave cooking. The glazes that we use contain no lead. Stoneware should never be taken directly from a refrigerator (or cold pantry) to a pre-heated oven. For best results and longest life, put your pot in the oven before turning it on. The pot must be full during cooking or it is likely to crack. Stoneware pots are made to be used for baking and serving and must not be placed over an open flame or electric burner. With reasonable care, your stoneware pot will provide years of good cooking and enjoyment!
